About Captain Mike's Seafood & Lobster
Located at 4257 Austin Blvd, Island Park, NY 11558, Captain Mike's Seafood & Lobster operates as a seafood market serving Island Park in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Island Park with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in New York may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.
The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 AMβ7 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Captain Mike's Seafood & Lobster at (516) 678-4522; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is seafoodandlobster.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 105 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded seafood markets in Island Park.
Island Park is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Island Park is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last. The biggest issue wasn't the employees working the lineβit was the person in charge. He seemed to act as nothing more than a middleman, taking orders and passing them along instead of actually helping the staff or customers. Meanwhile, the employees were doing all the work while he mostly directed traffic and got in the way. It appeared poorly managed, and it showed in the wait time. The staff seemed to be working hard, and I genuinely felt bad for them because they weren't getting the support they needed from management. If the boss guy had stepped in to help instead of simply relaying orders, the line would have moved much faster and customers would have had a better experience. Unfortunately, the lack of leadership and efficiency is why I won't be returning.

Nice people but the name doesnβt describe correctly. Went in for lobster and they didnβt have any and they get them from Jordonβs lobster. I wanted to work with a small company. Unfortunately our economy is killing small businesses like this.

The cod is second to none. they have such a wife variety of fish at reasonable prices. I've never seen them run out of anything either. You should definitely try this place. You will be extremely happy you did. It's right next to A&S Pork Store too. How great is that?!?!

Stopped by Captain Mikeβs in Oceanside and grabbed some shrimpβfresh and delicious! The price was great too, especially for the quality. Definitely a solid spot if youβre looking for good seafood without breaking the bank.

This place can't be beat! Many of the fish come directly from the ownerβs own fishing trips, including flounder, clams, scallops, crab; you name it. Everything is always fresh and locally sourced, which is a huge plus. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. With a family rooted in the commercial fishing business for generations, you can tell they know their craft and truly care about their customers. They always go above and beyond, giving more than you pay for. 100% recommend!
